how to play.

1. Drop a comment with one or more of your muses. It can be empty if you want me to make a scenario, or you can toss one at me. If you want to just give me a prompt (a word, song, lyric, picture, phrase, anything), I can riff off that too. I make no promises for logic, especially if I don't know the canon.

2. In the subject line, you can specify any of my muses you might want to play with, or you can ask me to pick someone. No muses are off-limits! If the character has no icons yet, I will find icons. Or you can make me pick.

3. just rp with me. if something jives really well, maybe we can continue it in another one of these later, sort of like a super casual verse. if it doesn't, it doesn't.

[Buffy's on patrol. Spike's lurking around because he does that like a loser sometimes. Also because it's been a few weeks since they had sex and HE WANTS MORE but he doesn't want to admit to wanting more, he wants her to come begging to him.

So he's here, watching her fight and making no move to help. When she finishes dusting a few vampires that she'd been fighting, he applauds slowly.] Nice work, love.

Really wasn't doing it for audience benefit. [ she dusts herself off, getting to her feet and turning to stomp off, disregarding him. uh uh. not doing this right now. so beyond not doing this right now. she'd managed to avoid him for a whole three weeks. she isn't looking to rehash old ... times. ugh. and once again, not looking at him. the quicker she gets out of the graveyard, the better. ]

[bigbad]

[He jumps off the crypt he'd been crouching on and catches up in a few strides.] Even so, I enjoyed the show. [Yeah, he's not going anywhere. Not yet anyhow.] You've been avoiding me.

[slay]

That would involve thinking about you. Which I haven't. No, Spike, I've been doing this thing called having a life. Which coincidentally--and thankfully--has nothing to do with you. [ oh. great. he's tagging along. maybe if she ignores him he'll go away. ]

[bigbad]

[But then you'd have to ignore him.] Haven't been thinking about me, huh? [Yeah, he believes that.] Makes two of us. Really, I was hoping it'd be a bit longer.

[slay]

Yes, which is why you're following me. Which I'm sure we'll be arriving at a reason for any minute now ...

[bigbad]

I'm not following you. [...yes he is.] Just happen to be walking the same direction. Got a problem with that?

I hope that's rhetorical. Find another direction to walk, Spike. I don't have time for this.

[bigbad]

So you are avoiding me. [He smirks triumphantly.] Almost like you're ashamed or something.

[slay]

[ ugh. even as she refuses to look at him she can feel the smirk on his face growing at that. ass. ] Not avoiding. Just hating. Don't you have someone else to annoy?

[bigbad]

[No, there's just her.] Does me being away make it easier to pretend?

[slay]

[ she knows she shouldn't ask questions she already knows the answers to, but ... she stops, pivoting on her heels to glower at him. ] Pretend what, exactly?

[Spike's trying to find a way to show Buffy his feelings. He can't just tell her. She'd do some sort of snooty self-righteous Slayer thing. No, he needs to show her.

He considers giving her a anonymous love poem. He could sneak it into her mailbox unsigned and watch her realise how much love he has for her. Then after she spends a while mooning over her secret admirer... he could admit that it's him and she'd fall head over heels for him.

Trouble is, last time a girl he liked heard his poetry, it didn't go so well. He's not much of a poet.

But! Buffy and Spike do share an interest in killing things. Yes, the more he thinks about it, that's definitely the way to her heart. Show Buffy that he's not just committed to loving her, he's committed to living her hero lifestyle.

He'd bring a vampire, but they don't leave anything he can show as proof, so they won't serve for his purposes. Finally, he finds a spiny-looking demon that feeds on human bones. Nasty fellow. Spike has a nice fight with it. He wins, and he drags the corpse back to Buffy's house.

When he gets to the porch, he looks up, trying to see if she's home. He pushes open the door, then shouts up at her.]

Buffy? Got something for you.

[ oh, this should be good. if anyone had noticed that spike had become more ... annoying since riley had left the scene, it was buffy. it was like he was everywhere she turned, reminding her just how disgusted she could be at vampires.

and now he was at her house. her house. she seethes and pulls her jacket back on. not like she'd been trying to put an end to the patrol and get cozy. no, she was on-call girl, all day and all night, ready to humor his ... whatever this was that he was probably just grasping at straws as relevance went.

she pulled open her bedroom door. dawn, from her own, gave her a questioning look and buffy just shook her head in dismissal. she trudged down the stairs, narrowing a look on the doorway. ]

What do you want?

[bigbad]

[He drops the dead demon in front of her.] Just thought you should know, you won't need to worry about this little bugger eating people's bones anymore. I killed him for you.

[slays]

[ as the demon comes into view, her expression goes from one of muted annoyance and 'i don't have time for this' attitude to one of oceans of fury. she grabs the demon and then spike by his jacket and shoves both out onto the porch quickly, practically throwing them back. ]

What the hell is wrong with you?

[bigbad]

[...that sure isn't the oceans of gratitude he'd expected. He scowls, covering his hurt with indignation.]

Person whose bones he was trying to eat is fine, if you care. [Spike doesn't, but he'd even stopped and called the hospital. The hand would never grow back, but the guy lived. Really, Buffy herself couldn't have done better.]

[slay]

And so you bring it into my house? God, do you want to scar Dawn for life? That thing attacked her! The last thing she needs is to see it bleeding in our living room! [ she's so scandalized spike, oh my god. you're incorrigible. she can't take you anywhere. and why are you even here to begin with? ] You wanna kill your own kind recreationally, fine. Gross, traitorous, but fine. Do it on your own time, and keep it out of my house.

[bigbad]

[Well, if something had attacked Spike, he'd like to see it dead.] It can't attack her now. You should be pleased. I didn't have to fight it.

[slay]

Pleased? Pleased that you decided to invite yourself into my job, my life, and my house? No, Spike. I am not pleased.

[bigbad]

[...he should have gone the poetry route.] Well, you invited me into your house. Couldn't get in otherwise.

[slay]

Once. I invited you in once. That's not a standing welcome. That is a zero welcome.

[bigbad]

[She hasn't uninvited him. By vampire rules, that's a freaking welcome mat. But he doesn't point it out. He doesn't want her to start thinking about it.]

Wasn't for me, a lot more innocent people would be dead. Doesn't that get me any credit?

[slay]

You killed this demon so you could take the credit? [ she stares, incredulous. ] ... You're obscene. [ she shakes her head, dismissing it and look exasperated. ] Get out of here. Take your stupid demon corpse, and get out. I don't want to see it, and I don't want my sister seeing it.
